DAS Audio sound system at EDC Orlando 2015

EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) Orlando 2015, an electronic dance music festival hosted by Insomniac Events, was a 2-day run on the grounds of Tinker Field. The music was piped through a sound system drawn from the Aero Series 2 catalog of Valencia, Spain-based DAS Audio.

DBS Sound and Lighting, LLC of Irwindale, CA, a live audio systems provider, was contracted to handle sound reinforcement for the event. Ruben Silva, the company’s owner and chief operator, deployed a collection of DAS Audio Aero Series 2 loudspeakers, including Aero 50 3-way line arrays, Aero 20A compact line arrays, UX-221 ultra-low frequency subwoofers, and LX-118A subwoofers.

“We used twenty Aero 50 line array enclosures powered by Crown HD12000 amplifiers - ten each for the left and right main hangs. We also used four Aero 20A line arrays for front fill and another eight Aero 20A’s for out fill, four per side,” Silva explains.

“For low frequency support we deployed twenty-four UX-221 subwoofers configured as eight triple-stacks in a cardioid configuration,” he continues. “These too were driven by Crown HD12000 power amps. Sidefills were handled by a combination of Aero 20A line array enclosures and LX-118A powered subwoofers, two each for the left and right sides.”
