Erneuter Umsatzsprung für Satis + Fy

21/10/2015 - Business News

Six new products for Ayrton at LDI 2015

21/10/2015 - Business News

Ayrton will be bringing six new products to LDI 2015, all which have been launched this year, and will be presented on the stand of Ayrton’s exclusive US distributor, Morpheus Lights.

Magic Dot-R and Cosmo Pix-R are part of the Creative Solutions line, into which Ayrton has incorporated a totally new technology: the first 94 mm diameter narrow beam angle collimator combined with the latest generation high-power (40 W or 60 W) Osram multichip LED that create tighter beams with an unrivalled centre beam intensity.

Magic Dot-R has proved an unbelievable hit from the moment it was released and is currently appearing on the Foo Fighters international tour. The latest member of the Radical series, Magic Dot-R is the first professional moving head LED luminaire with a single optical collimator. The new high-efficiency 94 mm diameter optical system uses a brand new 60 W RGBW multichip LED with a light-emitting surface of 8 mm2 that delivers an intense 4.5° beam with a central beam intensity of 180.000 candelas.

Lightning fast and exhibiting the Creative Solutions’ continuous pan and tilt rotation, Magic Dot-R’s totally round head fits within the diameter of its cylindrical base in all positions to allow bold new configurations with barely a centimeter of space between two luminaires. The entire unit weighs in at only 5,3 kg.

Cosmo Pix-R has sparked the imagination from dance halls to television shows. Cosmo Pix-R is an entirely new luminaire based on the concept of the famous PAR 36 double-rotation spheres that date back to the early ‘80s. Using the latest technology, Ayrton has revamped this legendary product design, and endowed it with a continuous combination of potential effects. This little powerhouse takes 12 of the highly efficient new 94 mm optics and generates 12 shafts of coloured light that can be separately controlled in all directions and driven in continuous pan and tilt rotation to create exhilarating, original effects. Cosmo Pix-R has extended series connectivity and can be controlled by DMX-RDM, Art-Net or with a wireless DMX-RDM link via a new generation TiMo module by Ayrton partner, LumenRadio.

Versa Pix-RS, the third new member of the Creative solutions line, puts Ayrton’s new 94 mm diameter optics in combination with a 4 mm2 40 W RGBW multichip to produce five 3.5° beams (the narrowest in Ayrton’s portfolio) with a record-breaking central beam intensity of 200 candela per lumen. This makes the new Versa Pix-RS three times more powerful than the original Versa Pix, with a central beam intensity six times greater than before. Truly spectacular 3D volumetric effects can be achieved with this Ultra Radical development. The cooling system for the three new products is also a wonder of technology: a new copper circuit board on the heat pipe along with a one-piece aluminium heat sink allows better, more efficient thermal conduction.

LDI also marks the US premiere of Dream Panel-Shift and DreamPanel-Twin, two exciting new moving head fixtures developed from the inspiration behind Ayrton’s original innovative DreamPanel Series.

Finally, Ayrton’s Automated Luminaires range has been expanded to encompass the Wild Sun-K 25 which will be shown for the first time in the US at LDI 2015.

Entec’s Will Wright project managed and co-ordinated all the prep work for the lighting department and Mark ‘Magic’ Ellis-Cope did the same for all the sound elements. Entec’s account handler Noreen O’Riordan commented, “When Richard Ames requested that Entec quote for both sound and lighting equipment, I knew that this would be a show ideally suited to our equipment inventory and skills. Having one supplier really benefitted the logistics of a 4 band arena tour … without any tech or rehearsal day!”

Will created a production design based on the requirements of all artists, two of which – The Drifters and Dionne Warwick had their own LDs in Al Johnstone and Debbie Fowler respectively. Simon Honnor was asked on-board to light Mary Wilson, while Will himself operated the board for Roberta Flack. All four artists were co-headliners, so Will studied the basic kit specifications from all of them and produced a rig designed to give plenty of stage coverage with added specials and effects. The plan was that this would be adaptable and ‘general-purpose’ enough for all to use and make their own artists shine and look distinctive with a blend of classic and contemporary lighting touches.

The rig all had to be based in the air as floor space needed to be left completely clear to allow the different backing bands’ backlines to be set up on a series of rolling risers … and quickly and efficiently changed over, roll-on-roll-off festival style. Will’s plot comprised three lighting and one backdrop truss with two wing trusses coming off the back one, which also had drop arms to give the lighting positions more depth and variation, and to allow for some shaping dynamics.

Lighting fixtures were designed to work in pairs or groups as this enhanced the general texturing and patterns that could be created, with 16 x Clay Paky Alpha Spot QWO 800 Spots on the back truss and 8 x Martin MAC 700 Washes. They were joined by five bars of 6 PARs in a nod towards the vintage warm tungsten looks that would have been the norm in the 1960s and 70s. He added two strings of ACLs for retro rock-out and anthemic looks, “paradiddle flash moments” as he calls them – on the back truss.

The mid-truss featured a third string of ACLs together with two MAC 700 Spots and four QWO Washes.
Moving forwards to the front truss, this was loaded with another five bars of 6 PARs, 8 x QWO Washes and 6 x QWO Spots, plus four 8-lites long the front rail for illuminating the audience. Sixteen ETC Source Fours also graced the front truss as all the artists required specials, an old-skool lighting look that has withstood the test of time beautifully.

The chosen backdrop – after some deliberation agreed on by all – was one of Entec’s P-light starcloths. For control, the console was an Avolites Tiger Touch with a Payback Wing. A major achievement was keeping the floor completely clear – not just of lighting but cabling and other infrastructure and bits that might have impeded the path of the rolling risers. Especially with monitors both sides of the stage, the lighting department had to be a bit creative with their cable management.

There was no pre-production time, so the first day was extremely busy and full on, but by the second gig – with an experienced and knowledgeable crew all familiar with the venues – it was already running like clockwork. Working alongside Will were Entec technicians Simon Chandler-Honnor, Jonathan Dawson-Butterworth & Steve Kerwick.

Audio was specified by Entec’s head of sound Mark ‘Magic’ Ellis-Cope, who worked closely with tour production manager Chris Gadd and tour manager Richard Ames. The system comprised 14 x d&b J8 and four J12s per side for the main hangs with side hangs of 10 x d&b V8 per side. The loudspeaker arrays were designed using d&b’s ArrayCalc simulation software, particular attention was focused on using d&b’s new array processing for all of the arrays which optimises every speaker cabinet in the system to get a fabulous, smooth and even coverage across all the auditoriums. A lot of D80 amp channels … but worth every penny of Entec’s ongoing investment in the d&b brand and the new technologies it offers.

Sixteen J-SUBS were arrayed on the floor, d&b Y10ps and Y7ps were used for in and out fills.
The FOH console was an Avid Profile 96-channel which ticked all the boxes on all four of the technical riders, and this domain was looked after on the road by Geoff Curtiss. Two Yamaha PM5D monitor consoles were set up either side of the stage, as one act specifically wanted to be mixed from stage right. Entec’s own Kevin Smith did the majority of the monitor mixing utilising a combination of 14 d&b M2 wedges, a Y-SUB for the drummers plus eight channels of Shure PSM1000 IEMs which were split between all four acts and backing bands.

Entec also supplied a full mics-and-stands package including a selection of Audix, Shure, AKG and Neuman KM184s and six channels of Shure UR4 handhelds for the vocalists. All the radio elements were powered by Fischer Amps rechargeable batteries, which is saving substantial battery disposal at each gig and is one of Entec’s ongoing initiatives to ensure the gig is as ‘green’ as possible. Kevin and Geoff were joined by system tech Lee Fox-Furnell and PA tech Jack Dunnett.

Automatically Robe for Miranda Lambert

21/10/2015 - Business News

Nashville, TN based production and lighting designer Chris Lisle of Chris Lisle Lighting Design has created an elegant stage look for country singer Miranda Lambert’s “Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars” tour, featuring Robe moving lights supplied by Bandit Lites, also based in Nashville. The tour runs for five weekends in the U.S. over October and is based on the concept of playing smaller and more intimate spaces on the touring circuit, allowing Lambert – known as a great communicator – to be close to her already loyal audience and reach out to potential new fans. Chris has worked with the prolific and successful star since she opened on a section of Keith Urban’s 2005 world tour.

At the start of this tour, they chatted about production and stage presentation, for which she wanted something straightforward and eye-catching that was lighting led, and without any major distracting video elements onstage. Something that allowed her music and presence to speak for themselves. He decided to specify 20 x Robe BMFLs Spots, 24 x Pointes and 19 x LED Wash 600s for his primary moving lights to give plenty of versatility and scope.

The BMFLs and Pointes are spread out along the upstage trusses, with more on the floor for additional drama and different beam angles, while the LED Wash 600s are used to provide the general stage colour bases and front washes. It’s the first time that Chris has used Robe’s new signature BMFL fixture on a tour. He and lighting director Craig Richter, who is out on the road with it, are both really enjoying creating “Beautiful beam moments and sophisticated effects,” as well as other scenes combining BMFL Spots and Pointes for texturing and other treatments.

Chris likes the gobos and the range of effects in the BMFL Spots which are utilized heavily in the show, and, like many, he loves the brightness and quality of the lightsource. Pointes he used for the first time on Chris Young’s latest tour – which started in 2014 and is still running - so it was a ‘No brainer’ to have them again on this rig he explained, adding that Chris Young had also been his first experience using Robe in his work.

The medium of lighting works hard in this show helping showcase Lambert’s powerful songs, lyrics and stage presence. Chris likes to keep it stylish and well defined. His colour combinations normally include no more than two hues at a time adding a degree of rawness. He likes to build a show gradually and help create the bond between the performer and audience, rather than letting lots of ‘tricks’ go in the first few songs, and there are other moments where lighting takes an alternative role completely, imperceptibly reinforcing the performance without anyone really noticing it’s present.

Chris thinks Robe currently has a range of great products with “amazing optics that are ideal for touring.”
Joining Craig on the Miranda Lambert tour are Bandit crew chief Tyler Veneziano and lighting tech Cody Cheatham. The production manager is Erik Leighty and Fred Yanda is stage manager.

Lunatx begleitet Jubiläumsveranstaltung zum Tag der Deutschen Einheit

21/10/2015 - Rental News

Oktober 2015 in Brüssel.

Robert Juliat receives PLASA Award for Innovation for Dalis

19/10/2015 - Business News

Robert Juliat's new LED cyclorama batten, Dalis, has been awarded the PLASA Award for Innovation at PLASA London 2015.

Dalis is a unique, asymmetrical 300W LED cyclorama light, consisting of 48 LED sources arranged in a double row. Each LED works in conjunction with a mini asymmetric reflector, or ‘spoon’, to deliver a smooth spread of light across any surface. Eight colours of LED are used in Dalis’ construction - red, green, blue, royal blue, amber, cyan, warm white (2200K) and cool white (6500K) - which mix to create a variety of pastel and saturated colours, with balance. Silent, fanless operation makes Dalis ideal for both theatre and television use.

The panel of PLASA Award for Innovation judges said: “The colour rendering from this product is beautiful. The fixture is well designed and elegant with a very good uniform beam pattern and will no doubt be a feature of many stages in the future.”

Francois Juliat, Robert Juliat’s CEO, was extremely happy to receive the Innovation Award on behalf of the company at the presentation ceremony during the show: “To receive this Award from the PLASA organisation is very gratifying,” he says.

Weltpremiere am Tag der Deutschen Einheit

19/10/2015 - Rental News

Placentia Presbyterian Church Projects the Right Image with Eiki

16/10/2015 - Business News

Situated in northern Orange County, Placentia Presbyterian Church has a rich history that dates back over 100 years. Services at the church offer a combination of the traditional and contemporary and feature a broad range of musical styles depending on the occasion and time of year. In its ongoing effort to further engage all members of the congregation and, in the process, make services even more relevant, church management recently elected to incorporate video projection technology. This led to the deployment of two LC-WXL200AL LCD projectors from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA-based Eiki International, Inc.

Christian Sound Services of Long Beach, CA, a design/build firm that specializes in the installation of audio, video, and lighting systems for the worship market, was contracted by Placentia Presbyterian Church to handle the project. Rod Stoddard (photo), the firm’s owner and principal consultant who was also responsible for system design and oversight of the installation, discussed the job and his reasons for selecting the Eiki projectors.

“The plan was for the new video system to be used mostly for lyrics to the hymns and other music used during services,” Stoddard explained. “Occasionally, however, images or a video clip will also be shown by Dr. Tobin Wilson, the church Pastor. While everyone agreed that incorporating video projectors into services was the right move, some parishioners wanted a minimal impact on the aesthetics of the sanctuary. For this reason, we brought in our artist who painted the screen casings to match the stone wall. This way, when the screens are retracted, they are far less noticeable - enabling the entire video system to maintain a low profile.”

“We chose the Eiki LC-WXL200AL projectors based on the vibrant colors and image clarity they deliver,” Stoddard continued, “and because these projectors are easy for our technicians to mount and configure. The two projectors were mounted using Chief hardware - part of Eiki’s installation package - on the balcony face and the throw distance is 58 feet. We like working with Eiki because some of our large, established churches have required a 15.000 lumen-class projector like the company’s LC-HDT2000 model while, other times, a more basic model is needed, such as for a Fellowship Hall where a 3600 lumen projector does the trick. Eiki has a very comprehensive product line and they all look great. That makes writing estimates and wining the bidding process very easy for us.”

Placentia Presbyterian Church’s installation took place during June 2015 and the equipment was placed into service immediately afterward. Since that time, Stoddard reports his client is extremely pleased with their new video capabilities, “The Pastor and tech team at Placentia Presbyterian Church are having a ball with their new gear. Now, they are planning new ways to draw in the congregation during services even more than before by incorporating imaginative content using their new video system. It’s been a very gratifying experience for everyone involved.”

Elation Cuepix Panels from Arena to Clubon David Nail “I’m a Fire” Tour

16/10/2015 - Business News

Acclaimed country singer David Nail turned to Nashville-based Cour Design for help in creating the lighting forhis “I'm a Fire” tour, aunique fully MIDI-triggered lighting rigthatuses Elation Professional Cuepix Panel LED matrix blinders as the main lighting element.

Gordon Droitcour, co-founder and designer at Cour Design, knew the singer would be opening for artists in large arenas but also needed a rig that would fit into clubs when David headlined his own show. The rig needed to have the same impact in each venue plus fit in a single trailer.

Looking for a vendor who could supply the gear while providing excellent customer support, Droitcour called on Elite Multimedia, also of Nashville. “We’ve worked with Elite Multimedia on all our projects because their customer service is excellent,” Droitcour says. “They are very good at helping us come up with the best solution for whatever project we may be working on no matter how big or small.”

Cour Design and Elite Multimedia agreed on a lighting package that included Elation Cuepix Panels as well as LED wash luminaires, a combination of products that could give the tour all the design elements desired while still making the transition from arena to club with ease.Cour Design acted as David Nail's production designer and programmer with Gordon Droitcour and Cour’s Erik Anderson handling the lighting design.

“As an artist, David likes a lot of silhouettes and saturated colors, but he doesn’t necessarily want a lot of flashing onstage,” Droitcour explains. “We chose the Elation Cuepix Panels because with their 25 RGBW LEDs on each panel they give a big look and can create a variety of pixel mapping effects.”

The LED matrix panels are utilized as the main lighting fixture and create an impactful look from upstage set carts that allow them to get on and off stage quickly. To simplify the load-in process, Cour Design created motor-controlled set carts on which the rig would travel. Once on site, crew members can easily roll the carts into place, raise them to the exact height needed, and then plug them into the self-triggering visual package.

The Cuepix fixtures are used as eye candy behind the band with eight panels all facing straight out on the set carts. Depending on stage size, the crew can place the carts as far or as close together as needed, keeping the rig as flexible as possible. “David's team wanted a big look that they could carry all year, stay relevant with design aesthetic while not sacrificing flexibility,” Droitcour comments.

Most important was their versatility. “This tour was a mixed bag of arena opening act spots and club headlining shows,” Droitcour continues.“We needed something that looked big in the arenas, but could still translate into clubs. We use them as a video panel or a lighting fixture with the individual pixel control and pixel mapping turning one light into 25. Since they have a lot of songs and not that many fixtures on stage, we needed a light that was more than a one trick pony. We could create several looks over the course of a 2-hour-long headlining set without running out of ideas.”

Droitcour says that when first looking at fixtures, they originally thought of using a similar product but with halogen bulbs. “That would give a classic look, butit was very much a single use product and a logistical nightmare. We were worried that the champagne colors would not translate with an LED product, but we thought we would go with one anyway for several reasons. In the end, we were blown away by the warm amber and champagne colors that came out of the Cuepix Panels. They looked like incandescents.”

On the David Nail tour, self-triggering technology developed by Cour Design automates the touring production through MIDI-triggered control. By implementing a show that triggers its own lighting and video cues from a backing track, it is possible for bands to hit the road with fewer technicians but more gear. “Since most bands want to have the big live show, we developed a system to automate touring productions, giving them the big show they desire on the budget they need,” Droitcour explains. “Because we use a self-contained and triggered visual system, our lighting rigs typically go out with no dedicated lighting technicians. When the production manager for David Nail heard we had found a way to make this happen, he reached out about their upcoming tour and we got to work.”

Droitcour praises Jason Hall and his team on the David Nail tour and thanks Peter, Tom and Cannonball at Elite for their “continued hard work.”The fall leg of the“I’m a Fire” tour will be playing dates in the U.S. and Canada through November.

Sveriges Radio: Mit IP-Technologie von Lawo und L-S-B in die Zukunft

16/10/2015 - AV-Medientechnik News

ISE 2016 sells out

15/10/2015 - Business News

With the first four-day Integrated Systems Europe exhibition now open for attendee registration attendees can look forward to the biggest and busiest show so far. With four months to go before the show opens over 43,000 square metres have been sold to exhibitors - an increase of 11% on the 2015 edition. ISE 2016 will once again occupy all halls of the Amsterdam RAI. Namely, hall 1-12, plus the Diamond Lounge and the new Amtrium building – booked entirely by Samsung Electronics.

The increase in sold floor space at the show supports the decision to take the exhibition to four days duration so as to allow exhibitors and attendees the maximum opportunity to meet and network at the event. "The fact that the four-day ISE is sold indicates that it was the correct decision to expand the show and a vote of confidence from our exhibitors and partners," explained Integrated Systems Events Managing Director Mike Blackman. "We are sure that it will deliver a richer experience for everyone that attends," he concluded.

Notable first time exhibitors include: Monacor, Beckhoff, Chauvet, D3 Technologies, Asus, KV2 Audio, Mimi Systems, Adboard, Hoellstern, GLP, Acano, Renkus Heinz, NEXT Proaudio and Plantronic. To coincide with the four-day show new opening hours have also been introduced. Research has shown that ISE has become increasingly relevant for IT professionals operating within the AV industry and those looking to gain entry or secure partners within the installation and integration marketplace. In response to this ISE will be partnering with selected IT media brands and running advertising campaigns across IT print and digital media to ensure that IT professionals are fully aware what ISE has to offer. ISE will be working with leading PR company Bubble & Squeak on this campaign.

Integrated Systems Europe has also announced its updated board of directors which includes the addition of recently appointed CEDIA CEO Vincent Bruno. Bruno was formerly the marketing director for Crestron Electronics leading its global marketing strategy.

Integrated Systems Europe will take place at the Amsterdam RAI on 9-12 February 2016.

Musikmesse: Exklusive "Business meets Business"-Halle ermöglicht Handel in ruhiger Atmosphäre

15/10/2015 - Business News

Flexible Präsentationsmöglichkeiten in Halle 11.1

Pristine speech intelligibility keep concert audience engaged

15/10/2015 - Business News

From their home offices in Brooklyn, NY, Fool’s Gold Records is an independent record label that has established itself with releases bridging the worlds of hip-hop and electronic music, introducing artists like Kid Sister, Danny Brown, Kid Cudi, and Duck Sauce. The label is best known for its annual series of Day Off concerts across the US and Canada and, just recently, the company sponsored a shindig in the greater Miami area. This concert featured hip hop recording artist Vic Mensa, DJ A-Trak, and Rap artist Mike Floss—all of whom performed through a potent sound reinforcement system drawn from the Aero Series 2 catalog of Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S. Audio.

Rental Stages of Hollywood, FL which specializes in a wide range of staging, lighting, sound, and supporting equipment for concerts and special events, was contracted to provide logistical support for the Day Off concert. Jamie Mardis, the company’s president, sound designer, and production manager, recently purchased a substantial sound system setup consisting of D.A.S. Audio’s newly introduced Aero 20A powered line arrays and UX-221A powered subwoofers. This equipment was used at the Day Off event. He discussed his experience with the new sound system.

“The Miami concert took place on Sunday, September 13th at Wynwood Village,” Mardis reports. “For this particular concert, we flew six D.A.S. Aero 20A line array elements for the left and right sides of the stage area. For low end support, we used eight UX-221A ultra low frequency subwoofers, which were positioned in a staggered center position setup.”

The Aero 20A is a compact line array system which incorporates D.A.S. Audio’s ALAS™ philosophy and draws from the success of the company’s Aero 12A. The powered Aero 20A incorporates the company’s latest technical achievements in transducer design, power electronics, and system management. This includes the newly developed 12AN4 loudspeaker, an improved M-75N compression driver, and a re-designed HF waveguide along with the quick-rig system for easy rigging and stacking. Equally notable, the D.A.S. UX-221A sub bass system incorporates dual 21-inch neodymium transducers with 6-inch voice coils for ultra-low sound delivery.

When queried about those attributes of the D.A.S. Aero 20A and UX-221A enclosures that made them so well suited for the Day Off project, Mardis offered the following thoughts. “With their new titanium drivers, the Aero 20A’s deliver exceptional vocal clarity and outstanding music reproduction qualities,” he said. “I was also very impressed with the new rigging hardware. It’s easy to use and saves quite a bit of time when flying the system. The UX-221A subwoofers are also really impressive. They have great power for their size and the low end performance is terrific.”

Mardis was equally enthusiastic about his experience with D.A.S. Audio’s customer and technical support services. “D.A.S. customer service has been awesome,” says Mardis. “From system design to implementation, they have been there for us the entire way. It was very gratifying to have this level of support to help us get up and running with our new system.”

With the first project using their new sound system under their belts, Mardis was enthusiastic about the gear, his relationship with D.A.S., and prospects for his company’s business, “The Aero 20A line arrays and UX-221A subwoofers enable us to offer our customers a one stop shop that includes state-of-the-art sound reinforcement capabilities. I’m confident this investment will help grow the business and I look forward to developing a long-term, mutually beneficial business relationship with D.A.S. Audio.”

Focusrite-Interfaces jetzt inklusive kostenlosem Softube “Time and Tone”-Bundle

14/10/2015 - Equipment News

Clay Paky delivers brightness to Finnish National Opera

14/10/2015 - Business News

Lighting and set designer Mikki Kunttu has used an array of Clay Paky Mythos and A.leda B-Eye K20 fixtures to create a truly stunning lighting design for a production of symphonic poem Kullervo at the Finnish National Opera.

Composed by Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius and first performed in Helsinki in 1892, the opera is based on the character of Kullervo in the epic poem Kalevala. A dance element choreographed by Tero Saarinen and performed by the Finnish National Ballet was added to this 2015 production, which celebrated 150 years since the birth of Sibelius. Kunttu specified 52 x Mythos and 48 x B-Eyes from Bright Finland for key lighting in the piece.

As the designer’s staging evoked an infinite black box, the Clay Paky fixtures were also employed as organic set pieces that moved in space to signify changes in scene. “The B-Eye K20 fixtures were used as moving sidelights. They created various spaces as well as beautifully lighting the performers from the sides of the stage,” says Kunttu. Also used as set pieces were a range of LED screens in varying sizes.

Msonic Oy is the Clay Paky distributor for Finland.

Digital Signage Summits are set to soar

13/10/2015 - Business News

The first fruits of the union between invidis consulting and Integrated Systems Events have proven to be a resounding success cementing Digital Signage Summit Europe 2015 as the leading strategy conference for both digital signage and Digital-out-of-Home. There is now the promise of more to follow with up-and-coming DSS events scheduled for Russia and Dubai.
Digital Signage Summit Europe 2015 took place in early September and featured more than 40 speakers and attracted close to 500 international delegates. The positive reaction to the conference follows on from the decision made in February for ISE to partner with leading digital signage experts invidis consulting.
At DSS Europe 2015 delegates were able to experience a compelling mix of panel discussions, workshops, presentations and networking opportunities with leading digital signage end-users and vendors. Delegates and exhibitors also responded positively to the newly introduced matchmaking service which was used by attendees to set up business meetings with one another.
invidis consulting’s Managing Director Florian Rotberg commented: "It demonstrated perfectly what the joint venture between invidis and ISE is capable of.” Rotberg confirmed that they planned to extend the matchmaking service to future events and that DSS Europe would be extended to a two-day conference for 2016.
The focus now shifts to two forthcoming Digital Signage Summit conferences. The next event is scheduled for the Expocentre, Moscow on 28-29 October. Chaired by Florian Rotberg, Digital Signage Summit Russia, will feature an exclusive opening forum focussing on Museums and Exhibition spaces which will be moderated by Alexei Bogdanov, Deputy Director of The State Hermitage Museum.
On Day 2 there will be a keynote presentation from Rotberg plus case study sessions covering the following areas: Quick Service Restaurants, Cosmetics, Drugstores, Banking and Retail Jewellery outlets.
Two weeks later the inaugural Digital Signage Summit MENA will take place on the 16 November at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai. DSS MENA will examine global digital signage and DooH trends and how they can be adapted to the needs of the region. The conference will focus on smart innovations for digital communication and explore this through the themes of Smart Experience and Smart Advertising.
Chaired by Florian Rotberg, this one-day conference will include sessions on:

- Retail
- Regional Case Studies
- The Smart Experience in Malls and Hotels
- Smart Advertising
- Best Practice and Measurement and Metrics

Rotberg will again present the keynote speech. There will also be the opportunity for delegates to meet leading MENA and European digital signage experts, take part in a local tour, plus have access to products and services shown by event sponsoring companies.
Mike Blackman, Integrated Systems Events’ Managing Director commented: “We are delighted with how the Digital Signage Summit series of conferences are delivering on our plan to enhance the European event and to take the DSS brand to a wider international audience.”

Robe zeigt umfangreiches Neuheitenspektrum auf der PLASA 2015

13/10/2015 - Business News

Adlib Enjoys a Summer Full of Festivals

13/10/2015 - Business News

Liverpool UK based Adlib is full of festival spirit following a highly successful summer of shows and events covering a rich and diverse cross section of concerts and music performances - from Latitude to Leeds/Reading - with lighting, sound, their infectious enthusiasm and characteristic humour. Here’s a roundup of a few of the highlights capturing the energy, spirit and vibes …

Creamfields Lighting
This is always a special event for Adlib. The company has been involved with various Cream live activities since the superclub exploded onto the dance scene in the early 90s and has continued to be a major influence right at the epicentre of rave culture. This year Adlib supplied sound and lighting to three arenas, CF03 the 15.000 capacity Cream Mega Arena; CF05 The Curve Arena - complete with wrap-round production design and CF12 Hospitality, with production overseen by Ian Greenway production manager from Larmac Live. Adlib’s Ian Tomlinson opened his imagination-bank and designed three stunning, dynamic and flexible production ‘house’ lighting rigs for the three areas each to bring a different ambience to the respective space.

Creamfields Sound
These same three arenas also benefitted from three excellent sound systems designed by Adlib’s Phil Stoker, all optimised to portray the fantastic line up of EDM genres. The system in the Cream Arena was Coda LA-12 with SCP-F subs and Viray delays and infills, which filled the tent beautifully giving a rich and resonant sound with plenty of body. It was specified by Phil and based on the system that has been provided for this venue over the past four years which has been hugely successful with artists, visiting engineers and the public.

Cornbury Lighting
Cornbury 2015 was staged in the attractive leafy environs of the Great Tew Estate in Oxfordshire, with Adlib supplying lighting for the main and second stages. Production was generally stepped up this year with a 15 metre Orbit main stage from which Adlib sub-hung their lighting trusses The lighting scheme itself was designed around headliner Tom Jones, who had his own lighting requirements featuring four upstage/downstage trussing fingers, which were slightly adapted to fit this specific event. This was the big challenge … providing a good match for Tom Jones’ LD that would also work for all the rest of the artists appearing over the weekend and using the ‘house’ rig. Sixty moving lights were a mix of Clay Paky Mythos and Martin MAC Aura washes, plus 20 x new RGB Stormy strobes. The console was a grandMA2 with another running in full tracking backup and the five Adlib crew were chiefed by Rob Starksfield. The second stage featured a smaller system comprising of front and back trusses on wind-up stands and a series of vertical truss sections, loaded with Martin MAC 700 Wash and Spots.

The Script at Croke Park, Dublin
The Script played a tumultuous homecoming show at Dublin’s iconic Croke Park stadium to the delight of 85,000 ecstatic fans. Adlib has been the regular Script PA supplier since 2010 with Adlib’s own Richy Nicholson their FOH engineer since then as well, ensuring that their intricate but ballsy rocky mix has been at its best worldwide. For Croke Park, the system comprised of a large L-Acoustics K1/K2 system with three sets of delays, plus a number of Kara mini-delay hangs which were dotted around the stadium roof – distributed style. This area of the venue has traditionally been a difficult space to deal with and get a good and consistent sound, but Richie and Adlib cracked it on this occasion with a bit of lateral thinking! With heavy noise restrictions in place as it’s a residential area, the 6 x Kara hangs and the three sets of delays - on three separate towers at the back of the arena - gave Richy more control. He used a DiGiCo SD7 out front, with a Soundcraft Vi6 provided for monitor engineer Paul “Mini” Moore. An Adlib crew of 10 ensured that all things audio ran smoothly, chiefed by the unflappable Marc Peers, with Dave Jones co-ordinating everything from the office and administration side.

Leeds/Reading Sound
As in recent years, Adlib has supplied audio and lighting for the NME/BBC Radio 1 stage, the tented and highly respected second stage at each location of this historically significant festival. L-Acoustics K1 was specified together with an almost identical design for both sites, and a marginally larger set up for Reading. Adlib also supplied Kara speakers for the overspill stage / screen areas, which were outside both sides and at the back of the tent in Reading, and outside in the area behind the tent in Leeds, This accommodated those unable to get in during the most popular sets. The consoles were Avid Profiles at FOH and Yamaha PM5Ds for monitors, and six crew were deployed to each site to make sure everything ran like clockwork. Kenny Perrin was the crew boss at Reading and Sam Proctor in Leeds. Adlib has been involved in this iconic UK festival since 2007.

Kendal Calling
Adlib was proud to again supply PA and lighting to 10 full stages and a number of periphery areas for this quality, independent, eclectic and well-loved event staged in the picturesque heart of the Lake District near Penrith, known for its boutique ambience, excellent line ups and fabulous atmosphere.
This year was the tenth Kendal Calling, and it’s an event that everyone “Properly loves and believes in” enthuses Phil Stoker. On the PA side, a collection of L-Acoustics, Coda and Adlib products were used site-wide to ensure that every performance space had the best sounding and most appropriate system possible! There were also a wide variety of consoles supplied. Adlib’s crew of 35 was chiefed by the multi-tasking Kevin Byatt working closely with organisers and producers, Ground Control and their production manager Dave Weeks.
